Dexcom Follow App Reviews

Needs notification widget

Dexcom is definitely a lifesaver, and we attributed our Dexcom Sensor for literally saving our kids life numerous times. We check our kids glucose level all the time. It is such a pain to have to open up the phone, pull up the app and wait for it to load tens and maybe even hundreds of times a day and night. Please please please give us a notification widget for the follow app so we can check it at ease! Please make your already excellent product even that much better.

Love, but tweeks would be nice

I love this app...it is an invaluable tool we constantly use. Ive seen many good suggestions previously stated. I currently have one too...I wish there was a vibration option for highs. Highs go off constantly at night waking us up. We were trained not to treat highs now during the night due to the greater risk of lows while sleeping. So currently I have to disable the high alert at night and then re-enable in the morning. Just a suggestion!

The new change ruined the app

Dexcom changed the feature of being able to control the sounds of the alarms. Now I cannot use this app to monitor my child in the middle of the night because the alarms will wake her. The only way is to plug earbuds i yo phone to keep silent but I cannot do that because she liked to her phone as alarm clock. So upsetting!

Follow app

I love this app...but would like to suggest a few upgrades that would make it even better for the dexcom follower. I saw that dexcom recently did an app upgrade to the user app so they can have their sugar readings displayed as a complication on their Apple Watch. This would be a great improvement for the follow app also! Please update this so a follower can have it on their Apple Watch just as easily. Also, please please please do an upgrade so that the sugar readings from the iPhone can be directly Blue-toothed to the Apple Watch without having the "go between" of the iPhone with you at all times. It would be so much more beneficial for both the user and follower if it would Bluetooth directly. I called Apple directly to see if this would be an upgrade they would need to do and was told that it would need to be an upgrade on Dexcoms side so that it can Bluetooth to the Watch directly, like it does the dexcom receiver and the iPhone. This would be a huge improvement in my eyes and could potentially save lives in the future! Thank you!

Great App

This is an invaluable app that my wife and I use to follow our daughters blood glucose numbers. We have experienced some connectivity issues with the G5 Mobile App, which loses the signal far too often and seems to forget that we are following our daughter on a regular basement. (Many a night Ive dragged myself out of bed to go in and click the "Followers" menu in G5 Mobile App to refresh the app so that data would start appearing on my Dexcom Follow app.) My main criticism is with the G5 Mobile App and its inconsistent pairing with my daughters transmitter; not with the Follow app, which is wonderful and a real game changer for managing our daughters T1D. Ive also come to rely upon the haptic feature of the Apple Watch version of the app, which buzzes when numbers go too high or too low. Love this feature! I have a couple of recommendations for the Apple Watch App version of Follow: 1. Please add complications support for Follow on Apple Watch. Kudos to Dexcom for adding support for the G5 Mobile App, which was rolled out this week. This doesnt help parents and caregivers who are not paired with the transmitter via Bluetooth, though, and instead must use Follow to track glucose numbers over the Internet. It would be great for Follower users to be able to put glucose numbers right to their watch faces, just like G5 Mobile app can now do. 2. It would be nice to see 24-, 12-, and 6-hour timelines on the Apple Watch in addition to the default 3-hour view. (Admittedly, this might make the interface clunky.)

Needs a complication for I watch face

Its great for the iPhone, but it would be even better if there was a complication for the I watch so you could view the childs sugar on your watch face.

Seriously needs an update

When I started using this to follow my wife in late 2015 this would have been 4 stars, now it is in serious need of an update like a widget, a watch complication, and just resolution improvement to go with the larger screen models. With what we pay for Dexcom products, I think an update isnt too much to ask for, please!

Needs update!

My son is a T1D, we love the Dexcom and the G5 app, they work wonderfully (although I wish they would develop a hypoallergenic adhesive). The follow app, which for parents is more important than the G5 app, needs more customization please! Why on earth can we not have complications on the Apple Watch like the G5 app does! Please include this in an update soon!!

Wheres the Widget?

It would be nice to have a widget option added to the next update. Also, if there was some reporting option so we can select prior days for trends.

Life changing

It not an exaggeration to say that Dexcom and its app integration with iOS has been life changing for me and my family. Keep up the great work. Thank you.

Great app, but...last updated in 2015??

First, this is a great app. I love that it works with my Apple watch and I like being able to see my husbands BG, especially if hes sleeping. Will we be able to get the BG # on the Apple watch complication soon? His app has it but the follower does not. Also, why two apps when you could control who sees what with login based permissions?

NEEDS UPDATE

App works but is extremely outdated, its over 2 years old and doesnt have as many features as the main app.

Needs complication

Please add this feature to the follow app as well. Being that my 7 year old has type 1 I use my watch & phone to check his numbers consistently.

Dexcom Follow-Review and Recommendations

I love the Dexcom Follow app! I have 2 T1Ds in my house, my husband (dx 25+ years ago) and my 13 yo daughter (dx just over a year ago). My husband got his first Dex (G4) because he lost his ability to tell when he was low. After a severe car accident (not T1D related), he got an iPhone and then upgraded to the G5. I love being able to view and get alerts on lows and highs (highs for my daughter only-hubby has great control). It gives me comfort to know I can check on them at any time of the day or night. A few recommendations: It would be great, instead of displaying "No Data", the app would display if the sensor failed, or in warm up period or if the app was inadvertently closed. For example, my husband is working overnights tonight and had to replace his sensor. I ended up calling to check on him because the Follow app showed "No Data" for over an hour. I was relieved to know there wasnt a problem. It is worrisome to see "No Data" for a long period of time. Those features would make me feel more at ease. Another nice feature to add would be the ability to zoom in on the trend graph to see what blood sugar was at a certain time. For my daughter, I sometimes have to send blood sugars to the Endocrinologist. Quite often I miss some of the times indicated because I am busy at work. In the current format, I have to look closely and take my best guess, if I miss a blood sugar. Just a few suggestions to make it a little easier to follow your T1D. Overall, wonderful app and keep up the awesome work in developing awesome technology!

frustrating

its perfect when its working but too annoying when i dont get data. I always asked my daughter to refresh all the time

Its complicated, not.

Me: "How do I activate the complication for Dexcom Follow?" Dexcom: "Dexcom Follow does not have a complication feature." Me: "Exactly!"

Not good for iwatch

Please, please, PLEASE make a complication for the iwatch. My 2yo needs to have his idevice on HIM, but I AM the one who needs to see his bg numbers. Super frustrating not having the capability to have this with just the flip of my wrist. (Cannot pair my watch with his iPod due to needing my emails, phone for work, all on my phone etc.)

Dexter

Wish it had a widget like the dexcom app does. Other than that this is day one and Im very happy, light years ahead of the enlite sensor!

Nice

I like this app. Both my sons have diabetes and we like this app so that we can see their numbers on our iPhones. Thank u Dexcom.

Love it!

The SHARE and FOLLOW app are a winner for all parents with children having Type 1 diabetes. Started using our SHARE last week. My 10 yr old son set it up by himself and even issued the invites to me and my wife to follow his BG levels. It works as advertised and allows me to now go to bed at normal hours and have peace of mind Ill be alerted for any lows. Thanks DEXCOM!! P.S. I am confident iPad will be supported soon. I realize you have to start somewhere. For anyone to give a low rating just because iPad isnt yet supported one word comes to mind --- rediculous.
