The Dexcom Follow App is part of the Dexcom SHARE® system.

Use this app if your loved one is sharing data from their Dexcom CGM app. The Sharer will need to send an invitation to allow you to connect after you have installed the Follow app.

Dexcom Follow is the perfect companion to your loved one’s Dexcom CGM, connecting you to those nearest and dearest to you, even when they’re far away. Through secure wireless connections, Dexcom Follow allows you to view and follow the glucose levels, trends and data of your loved ones. Whether you have a child who is in school, an elderly parent who lives on their own, or a spouse who is going on a business trip, Dexcom Follow is there to keep you connected and informed.

With Dexcom Follow, you can:

• Monitor your loved one’s glucose activity at school or anywhere they go.
• Receive glucose information of up to 10 different Sharers – children, friends, or other loved ones.
• Respond quickly with the help of customizable glucose alerts and push notifications that can inform you when a Sharer’s glucose levels are outside the norm.

Dexcom Follow is compatible with your Apple Watch. You can follow and view glucose information and trend graphs of up to ten people right on your wrist. Your watch can also alert you when sharers glucose levels are outside the norm.

Do not use Dexcom Follow for treatment decisions, such as insulin dosing. The Sharer should follow instructions on the CGM system.

Pros and cons of Dexcom Follow app for iPhone and iPad

Dexcom Follow app good for

This app is a very good tool for aiding in the Management of T1D for our teenage son. We know at all times if he is in range and can communicate with his as soon as he is not. Having the ability to know through the night that his numbers are good is huge piece of mind. This is the best tool in our management kit yet.
This app has been great. The technology to see our sons BG from our watch is so helpful and we are so grateful to not have to buy extra pebble watches or transmitters but rather use our same technology. We adjusted alerts to our needs so we dont have the issue of them going off without us needed to take action.
I love this app. My daughter has a G5, and this app allows her BF and I to help her monitor her BG. Very occasional connectivity issues, usually when the transmitter is near the end. I would like it if I could turn the phone sideways and see the graph like she can. Its my ch easier to read that way.
Fantastic technology that has literally been life-changing for me and for my daughter. Cant emphasize that enough -- tremendous product. The app itself has room for improvement. For example, I cant repeat an Urgent Low Notification? This is a huge oversight that creates dangerous conditions. I work as a design lead for a Fortune 500 company -- Dexcom, please feel free to give me a holler if you ever want to get some more feedback on the app.
The Dexcom Follow app is a wonderful thing to have to be able to monitor my sons levels when he is not at home. By putting the Dexcom Share app on his iPod Touch, we are able to see how he is doing throughout the day. It is not perfect... nothing is, but it is typically very close (once a few calibrations have been done). My wish is that when I get a notification that is had more information. As it stands right now, You have to actually open the app to see what is going on. This would easily be a five star app if the notification told you, for example: "notification from (name) level is high 226." Etc. it would make it that much faster to jump to action.
We love what the Dexcom G5 has done for managing my daughters diabetes. I only wish there was an Apple Watch complication for the follow app so I could check at a glance instead of having to open the app itself. Would make a big difference to us.

Some bad moments

How is it you still dont support the iPhone 6/+ resolution? The 7 is around the corner for heavens sake. Come on.
Its great... When it works, however, I find that the receiver will have the number displayed but this app says no data. This is frustrating as I loose connection at night because my 2 year old daughter and my room is apparently too far away and that can cause the receiver to loose signal. I thought Id download the share app and be able to leave the receiver in her room so I could still get the updates but its worthless 95% of the time because it cant get data. I really really hope this will be fixed.
Would be nice if there is an update do where it fixed the dropping data connection.. My wifi is fine and even when I switch to data internet still nothing.. I wouldnt of bought G5 if I knew this was a big problem. Looses data when my daughters transmitter is In the same house.. I love it when it works!
My only issues are that like the "Dexcom G5 Mobile" app this Follow app needs to be able to be customized into showing up on my Notification Center on the iPhone (like where stocks and weather widgets are). There isnt this option currently available and it needs to be there. Also, I invested in the Apple Watch, but this Share app isnt able to be customized on your watch face like the "Dexcom G5 Mobile" app either (not able to set as complication). Once those two things are corrected, for myself, Id then change my review. The product itself is awesome. We love and appreciate the technology. Just a few user issues.
The principle is good but the execution very poor. The alarms are hugely irritating. The repeat function does not correspond to menu settings (i.e. instead of reminding every 30 or 60 minutes - as set - the app continues to alarm annoyingly every 5 minutes without break). The functionality is weak. But its a start.
Recently updated to iOS 10 and the different alert settings do not save. It appears the app may still work, but would be nice to have the front-end issue corrected.
